Camping in the Downieville and Sierra Buttes/Lakes Basin Area
Downieville Outfitters is your stop for camping, biking, and hiking gear, accessories and maps!

Off the Hwy49 corridor are several seasonal Forest Service and PG & E campgrounds, which are available on a first-come, first-served basis. All sites have $18 per night fee. Currently, none of the listed campsites offer showers though potable water is available. Please contact the USFS Ranger Station at 530-288-3231 for more information.
Smokey says: Campfires allowed in camping areas. Permits req'd for campfires and stoves outside developed campgrounds, follow postings for current campfire restrictions. Bucket & shovel required.
Keep America Beautiful: Remember the packing motto: Pack-it-in, pack-it-out. Stay on the trails and don't cut switchbacks. Keep pets under control.
Be Trail Wise: Use maps, when hiking alone stay on popular trails. Be aware of wildlife and the changing appearance of wild plants. Always carry essentials: food, water, clothing, first aid, lighter, whistle, map, dark sunglasses, compass, flashlight, and knife.
Multi-purpose trails, please be courteous.
