All of the trails from the top are open! No Snow!

July 3, 2010
All of the trails from the top are open with exception to Sunrise. Snow still covers parts of sunrise, but the road to Pauley and Big Boulder is passable with some drifts to ride around.

June 29, 2010
Some snow drifts on Butcher Ranch Trail. But snow is mostly gone. Sunrise is still snowed under. Temps have been high lately and snow is melting fast.

June 6, 2010
The 93 road should be plowed this week, the snow is still deep into butcher ranch for the first 2.5 miles. The good news is that the warm weather is punishing the snow and the river is way up. The prediction is 2 weeks for top to bottom  riding on Butcher, 3-4 weeks for Sunrise and the traverse out 93-3rd to Gold Valley.

The good news is the trail conditions have never been better. We spent 11hrs on Thursday  raking Lower Butcher and cut 10 trees as well. We have now groomed 2nd, 3rd, and Lower Butcher up to the Pauley split. We will continue the assault up Butcher and Pauley this week, so conditions will be amazing when you bust out of the snow.

MAY 20, 2010
The road to Packer Saddle has been cleared to Packer Lake with the remaining 2 miles scheduled to be cleared by the first weekend in June. There is an additional 2 miles of snow covering the trail down into Butcher Ranch. When the road is cleared of remaining snow, the trail will have some remaining drifts, but should be passable. The riding in the high country is a few weeks off, but should be melting fast.

With all of the creeks and streams flowing at capacity and the lower trails cleared and in their prime condition, Memorial Day weekend should bring the best riding of the season. We just need to be patient for the snow to subside and we will be seeing epic riding this summer. The lower trails including the Divides and the North Yuba trails, as well as Fiddle Creek and Hall's Ranch are clear and ideal for early season riding. Don't miss out on the greatest trail riding of the season.

We will be out maintaining the trails to the snow line insuring the best conditions as the spring melt continues. Here are some photos taken May 19 of the FS 93 road.

May 12 2010:
We cleaned, raked and repaired 3rd Divide trail and about a half mile of Big Boulder last Saturday. I am also planning to continue the work on Big Boulder in tne next couple of weeks. Conditions are excellent on all lower trails and we hope to have the shuttle running by Memorial Day. That will depend on the county plowing to the saddle as they have done the past 2 years. Snow will be on top on Memorial Day, and it will have to be ridden.

Trail work day May 8th
There will be a trail day organized on Saturday, May 8th to clear some remaining trails of debris and trees. More info will be forthcoming on the work, just email if you can participate or have questions.

We are posting bi-weekly status reports with pics through spring so keep checking back to know when the downhill is fully rideable.

April 26 2010:
Here are some photos from 4/26. They are of the road up to the saddle and the last is the trailhead at the top of butcher ranch. We are a solid month away from shuttling...if we are lucky! This gives us time to prepare for some great conditions, when the snow melts. I would say 2-4' of snowpack from 6000ft up. Warm and long days do help.

April 20 2010:
Winter does not want to shake it's grip! While the sun is now hot and melting snow at a rapid rate, El Nino just wants to keep adding more of the white stuff at the top of the mountains.

So nothing good to report on the high country for us mountain bikers, except the sun is getting hotter and will be working it's magic in May.

So I give you this as we wait for the melt:
